ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL, BARRACKPORE celebrated the Annual Concert  for the primary section on Tuesday, 18th January, 2018 amidst great zest, vibrancy and elation. Brigadier AV Ramesh ,Commandant, Base Hospital was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The programme was graced with the presence of other dignitaries from Base Hospital, Parents and students.


The programme commenced with the lighting of the Ceremonial lamp by the Honourableble Chief Guest. It was followed by a mellifluous rendition of welcome song by the students.


The Cultural programme based on the theme ‘Be the Change’ comprised the Welcome Dance. It was followed by a report by the Principal, Mrs Moitreyee Mukherjee, focussing on the achievements of the students of the past academic session. Mime depicted the rewards of hard work and sacrifices, of being slow yet steady was enacted by the students. Music and Melody was a musical show, where the budding talents of the school played and rendered mellifluous songs conveying the message of peace and unity of the world over. A Confluence of music carried the audience through an odyssey of hundred years of Bollywood music showing the change in the scenario of music. The Hindi Skit was a superb presentation of some stories enacted by the tiny tots of  the school. The English skit-‘Cinderella- A fairy tale’ was an enactment of the idea that after pain, hardship and grief, one finds true peace and happiness when some kind, empathetic soul reaches out to alleviate pain. It also gave the message that kindness and benevolence are qualities that should be harboured by every soul. It was followed by the young generation’s idea of fashion with a beautiful message advocating the advantages of positive change and world peace. A melee of  Folk Dance was a scintillating presentation of various dance forms. The Western Dance was an energetic performance of the dance forms again reinforcing the message of peace. The closing dance was a mesmerising collage of classical dance forms highlighting  centuries  of rich tradition and culture of India.



“We must be the change we wish to see in the world” – the above maxim of Mahatma Gandhi signifies our duty to create positive change in the world around us and how we can ‘be the change’. An illustration of this concept was portrayed during the Annual Day Celebration of APS Barrackpore through a series of mesmerizing display of performances of enthusiastic and budding young talents of classes VI to XII on the     20th Dec 2018. The event was honoured with the glorious presence of Chief Guest      Brig NR Jakhar, SM**, Chairman, APS Barrackpore & Madam Manju Jakhar along with other dignitaries. The inauguration of the celebration was marked with the lighting of the holy lamp followed by the Annual Report presentation by Principal Mrs Moitreyee Mukherjee. The fun- filled day was decorated with dance, song and skits.

The welcome dance enticed the audience and created and aura of auspiciousness and ushered change for a better tomorrow. The Mime showcased the myriad art forms representing the very essence of our being and induced a sense of commitment amongst all the Flavours of the West brought with it the essence of Women Empowerment that spread an effulgence through the exotic deliberations. The Hindi skit toyed with the idea that it is now time enough for human race to abstain from malice towards one and all, thus making the Earth a better place live in the collage of Folk Dance from North East India show cased geographical vastness, the diverse ecological conditions, the Saga of their struggle and their intricate social structure. The English skit exuded the quality of mercy and forgiveness that brings a change even within a sinner.



Finally, the icing of the cake was the prize distribution ceremony by Madam Manju Jakhar and few valuable words from our Chief Guest which marked the end of the day.
